Next IAPSO Assembly and Prince Albert I Medalist 2017

Dear IAPSO National Correspondents, Executive Committee Members and other "IAPSO Scientists",

Next Assembly
The IAPSO-IAMAS-IAGA Joint Assembly “Good Hope for Earth Sciences” will take place in Cape Town, South Africa, from August 27 to September 1.

There will be 15 symposia covering a wide range of IAPSO’s topics, 8 of them organized jointly with IAMAS and IAGA. The program details can be found at the Assembly’s website:  http://www.iapso-iamas-iaga2017.com/.

Important deadlines: March 12 for abstract submissions and grant applications.

Please disseminate information about the Assembly within your network.

Prince Albert I Medal
Lynne Talley,  Distinguished Professor at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, is the Prince Albert I Medal recipient 2017: ‘For her seminal contributions to our understanding of all ocean basins, including landmark discoveries in the Pacific, Atlantic and Southern Oceans”.

The Medal ceremony and Albert I Memorial Lecture will take place during the IAPSO-IAMAS-IAGA Joint Assembly, on August 31.

Eugene LaFond Medal 2017, Call for candidatures
The Eugene LaFond Medal 2017 will be awarded to an ocean scientist from a developing country making a presentation (poster or oral) in a IAPSO-sponsored or co-sponsored symposium at the IAPSO-IAMAS-IAGA Joint Assembly.

Early-career scientists are invited to propose themselves while registering to the Assembly.
