Next IAPSO assembly and Prince Albert I medalist 2015
Dear IAPSO National Correspondents, Executive Committee Members and other "IAPSO Scientists",
Next Assembly The IUGG (International Union of Geodesi and Geophysics) General Assembly in 2015 will take place in Prague, Czech Republic June 22 – July 2. (Most IAPSO symposia will be between June 27 and July 1.) Among all geophysical symposia there will be about 25 IAPSO symposia covering different aspect of physical and chemical oceanography. Please disseminate information about the Assembly within your network.
Prince Albert I Medal Toshio Yamagata, Emeritus Professor of the University of Tokyo and Director of Application Laboratory, Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC), is the Prince Albert I Medal recipient 2015: ‘For his ground-breaking work and exceptional contribution to our understanding of El Niño/Southern Oscillation and the newly discovered Indian Ocean Dipole’. The Medal ceremony and Albert I Memorial Lecture will take place during the IUGG General Assembly, on June 29.
New SCOR/ IAPSO working group At the SCOR (Scientific Committee on Oceanic research) General Assembly in Bremen, September 2014, IAPSO decided to co-sponsor one of the funded working groups, Wg 145 on Chemical Speciation Modelling in Seawater to Meet 21st Century Needs (MARCHEMSPEC).
